So NYMag has a photo of chef Alex Garcia in front of revamped eatery Carniceria, nee Porchetta. An Argentinean steakhouse.

Question: Isn't Alex Garcia the guy who got indicted for money laundering? How strange that the owner is willing to exchange a petty larcenist for a felony drug trafficker/money launderer.

Regardless, if there's meat and chimichurri involved I'll take a walkby perhaps to nibble this week.

Yes he is the same guy. Which without saying my first thought was, why would he find a replacement with even more controversy? :cool:

Everyone sure it's the same owner? At any rate, it was open last night with several people inside eating steaks. We went elsewhere.

Given the criminal records of the recent kitchen staff perhaps they should reopen in one of those storefronts in the nearby Brooklyn House of Detention. They could turn it into a theme restaurant.

Brooklyn has a rep for being tough, but really...

Maybe instead of Carniceria it should have been named Halfway House.

Now you're talking. They could set the tables up with screens in the middle like they use for prison visiting rooms. The servers could wear orange jumpsuits - "Hi, my name is 67256 and I'll be your waiter tonight." Instead of steak knives the diners would be issued switchblades and shivs.

I hear you can get a good steak with 2 cartons of Marlboros and a fluffy blanket. Be sure to get the 2004 toilet wine -- it's supposed to be a good vintage. Que terroir.
