The Star-Ledger of Newark has an article about ticket policies for various TV shows. Most welcome audiences, but several have age limits, dress codes, or other restricting factors. Rachael Ray, in particular, is quite fussy about what audience members are permitted to wear.

QUOTE

RACHAEL RAY

You can request tickets online at www.rachaelrayshow.com. Click on "show stuff." The show is currently offering tickets for shows taping in April. Bonus: Audience members will be fed a snack.

Tapings: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Location: 222 E. 44th St., between Second and Third avenues

Age limit: 16 and older

Standby: You can pick up a voucher at the studio at 10 a.m. for the 11 a.m. taping, and at 2:30 p.m. for the 4 p.m. taping, but it doesn't guarantee a seat.

THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW

It should come as no surpise that domestic diva Stewart even themes her audiences. Currently, she's looking for soon-to-be or new moms, single men or chihuahua owners (she's looking to fill the entire studio with tiny canines on Feb. 13). But regular folks are also welcome to attend a taping. Go to www.marthastewart.com, then click on "The Martha Stewart Show" on the left. Then click "Get Tickets." They are currently accepting requests for February and March. If you're a member of a special-interest group that wants to attend a taping, or for general information, you may call (917) 438-5999.

Tapings: Weekdays only, but the schedule varies. Tapings generally begin at at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m., depending on the day.

Location: Chelsea Television Studios, 221 W. 26th St. between Seventh and Eighth avenues.

Age limit: 10 years and older.

Standby: They are available two hours before showtime at the studio.

THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART

Does it surprise you that the audience wranglers at Comedy Central aren't quite as organized as the Martha Stewart folks? They don't have an online reservation system, but you can request tickets (specify at least two dates and be sure to give your telephone number) via email at requesttickets@thedailyshow.com.

Tapings:

Location: 733 11th Ave., between 51st and 52nd streets.

Age limit: 18 and older.

Standby: You can show up at the studio, but you might have more luck snagging last-minute tickets by calling (212) 586-2477 on Fridays between 11 and 11:30 a.m. the week prior to your date you'd like to attend.

THE COLBERT REPORT

The truthiness? Standby tickets are your hope to getting in at all. The show isn't even taking ticket requests at the moment, but the Web site advises fans to check back in the coming months. Go to Comedy Central's Web site, and follow the link to "The Colbert Report." Then click on "Tickets" on the left.

Taping: Monday through Thursday,

Location: 513 W. 54th St., between 10th and 11th avenues.

Age limit: 18 and older.

Standby: You can sign up for tickets at 4 p.m. outside the studio.

LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN

You can either fill in an online form to get tickets (go to http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow, then scroll down to "Get Tickets." They're accepting requests for shows through April) or request tickets in person in the lobby of the theater. You can sign up from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

Tapings: They tape two shows on Monday at 4:30 and 7 p.m., one show daily at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Location: 1697 Broadway between West 53rd and West 54th streets.

Age limit: 18 and over.

Standby: Call the standby ticket line at (212) 247-6487 starting at 11 a.m. on the day of the show (no Fridays). Your name will be placed on a list, and you must check in at the theater an hour before taping to see if there are seats. If you get an automated message, there are no more tickets.

THE LATE SHOW WITH CONAN O'BRIEN

Call NBC's handy ticket line at (212) 664-3056 to speak to an actual human being to request up to four tickets. They're currently booked through Feb. 2. You can sometimes request tickets online on the show's Web site, http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O'Brien, then click "About," and then "Tickets."

Taping: Monday through Friday, late afternoon.

Location: 30 Rockefeller Plaza

Age limit: 16 and up

Standby: The show distributes 75 standby tickets the day of the show under the NBC Studios marquee on the 49th Street side of 30 Rockefeller at 9 a.m. each day, but the standby tickets are not guarantees of admission.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

This one's easy: Wait until August. The show offers a ticket lottery only once a year in August for the upcoming season. You can't even request specific dates. So in six months, send an email to snltickets@nbcuni.com, and maybe you'll be rewarded with two tickets.

Tapings: You may either receive tickets to an 8 p.m. dress rehearsal or the 11:30 p.m. live show. On Saturday, of course.

Location: 30 Rockefeller Center

Age limit: 16 and up

Standby: You might able to snag one of these if you haul your butt into Manhattan at 7 a.m. on the morning of the tapings. They're available on the 49th Street side of 30 Rockefeller Plaza on the morning of the tapings.

LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY

The Reege does it old school. To see these peppy morning talkers, you'll actually have to buy a stamp. Send a postcard with your name, address, telephone number, number of tickets (no more than four) and three possible dates to: "Live with Regis and Kelly" Tickets, Ansonia Station, P.O. Box 230-777, New York, NY 10023-0777. There can be a year-long wait for tickets.

Tapings: Monday through Friday at 9 a.m.

Location: 7 Lincoln Square, corner of W. 67th Street and Columbus Avenue.

Age limit: 10 and older.

Standby: Try for tickets at 7 a.m. at the studio entrance.

THE VIEW

Between a drunken, Bush-bashing Danny DeVito, "ching-chong"-gate and the continuing Rosie O'Donnell/Barbara Walters/Donald Trump imbroglio, someday we may look back and consider this the Golden Age of "The View." Too bad we can't get tickets. Not only is there a one-year wait, the show currently is only seeking audience members outside the New York metro area. Boo. Check back for updated information at http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview, then click on "tickets." Or check out your stand-by options below.

Tapings: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.

Location: 320 W. 66th St.

Age limit: 16 and older

Standby: You can pick up a number between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the studio. Everyone is asked to return to line by 10:20 a.m. to find out if seats are available.
