No sign of Full Comp shutting down or any decrease in loveletters.
nuxv:
Full Comp got an eMail from Abby at PXthis:

This little blog is maturing quickly.
The writing is settling down - the attitude is first rate. It's a highlight of my day.

And look who's radar it's hit already?!

We were packing up our stuff after playing ball with Patrick Connolly yesterday when somebody doinked us on the head with a butt and asked us where we were going, didn't we want to toss a few with him? We stood up and turned around and peeps, we almost dropped dead when we saw motherfucking ANTHONY BOURDAIN standing there with that shit eating grin.
The ensuing interview is cool, check it out.

Wellll.....

I have just not been able to stop checking in on this blog.
It seems to be morphing into something right before our eyes.
It's a collective mouthpiece for the writhing, squirming, red-knuckled, bloodshot, under-appreciated, miracle-making-at-any-cost (probably theirs), front/backstage soldiers of Boston's Restaurant Culture - reading it brings the timeless artwork of Ralph Steadman to mind.

How about this...

Here's a bit of mail...

Then there is the fantastic interviews with really well-respected chefs and GM's who have a lot to contribute to the folks in the trenches - for whom the blog is tirelessly offered by it's unknown authors. This/these person/people just want the short straws the little people picked to get a bit longer. The mail is really positive: "It's great you're telling it like it is," ...and really vitrolic "Whoever you are you are going to fry..." Okay I made that last one up but there are definitely threats going on.

What's amazing is how much the community loves it - that someone is championing their hard working and much-abused asses. It's apparent that, out of frustration and exhileration that somebody cares, many of them write pages and pages and pages to this blog...

Our inbox is looking like our bedroom floor after a week of doubles: a total goddamn mess.

After a particularly deep dagger was posted regarding a particular personality the most recent post seems tame by comparison.

I think they are doing a bit of soul searching. Give them a day or two, I think (hope) they'll be back.

There's a lesson in all this.
Okay, screw the lesson. It's a great story nonetheless. Glad I got caught in it's feverish, untidy wake.

Meanwhile, in the "What If?" department:

FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
So is the big party still on?
THEFULLCOMP:
Well, shizz - it's been such a clusterfuck this week I don't even know.
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
You have all that financial/promo support and the peeps were looking forward to it
THEFULLCOMP:
I know, I know. But I can feel that support getting sucked dry by blunders more huge than the Big Dig.
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
Well, keep us posted.
THEFULLCOMP:
Whatever.
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
C'mon cheer up. One burn doesn't keep the real heros away from the stove. Take the break and consider your options. Shame to waste all this momentum.
THEFULLCOMP:
What I need is a few good cocktails right now.
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
You weren't going to go to that party anyway, were you?
THEFULLCOMP:
Of course not! It would have been too much: three to five hundred people looking at each other saying, "Is it you? Is it you?" I'm not sure I would have been able to hold it after, say, six shots of Hornitas. So we got a room upstairs with a private bar and a closed-circuit camera to watch the fun. Damn you're good. Say, who the fuck are you, anyway?
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
We'll miss you
THEFULLCOMP:
Feeling's mutual. I'll be back
FANS OF THEFULLCOMP:
We'll be here.
THEFULLCOMP:
Thanks. Peace Out.

Damn. How about that?!

Good job trash talking herself - had me fooled, not that that's hard.

If it IS her, I wonder if this whole thing is a sneaky setup to see who she knows who would dish her:

Extra credit for anyone who can give us something we don't know already about Garrett Harker or Gwen Butler.

That seems pretty farfetched though.

Hrmm. Not so farfetched after all.

I'm not so sure it's Gwen. She's nuts but she's not CRAZY. The community is too small to piss everyone off AND libel Garrett. My theory is either a) she's being set up or b) she's taking the heat to deflect from the real author.

I enjoyed it in the beginning too, until it took that nasty nasty sex-ed turn. Just eeewww.
I like mine moist and buttery.
