I wouldn’t recommend it for the atmosphere. A sort of Catalan version of Wilton’s.

Wait a minute. Wilton's -- where I ate, as it happens, with balex -- has like some of my favorite atmosphere anywhere.

I agree, but there are many, many people who would not enjoy it.

Interesting that you don’t have the same adverse reaction to Wilton’s that you have to the 21 Club.

I never said I had that reaction to the 21 Club.  I DON'T have that reaction to the 21 Club.

It's mainly younger straight people that repel me.

Via Veneto is the Barcelona restaurant with the Wiltonesque atmosphere and I love it

My mistake, I thought you had railed against old money at 21Club.

Can I say I hate the young, straight, white people who have infested Avenue C?

Too many tech conferences, it is not “21Club,” it is the 21 Club.

Estimar was terrific: I thought much better than RdG.  We had anchoas, some sauteed clams with sherry, cold red prawns, a whole grilled sole, some salads, chips and patron peppers, rice pudding. Uniformly excellent;  the lenguado was superb, smoky from the grill, perfectly cooked to my taste ( but I like it maybe 30s more cooked than some), amazing seafood. And it was about 250 for 2, with a lot of food, with a bottle of cheap but excellent wine.

Just missed the pea season but did get some setas perrichicos (St George's mushrooms) at Via Veneto with some underpriced Roumier.

Such good food in Barcelona and it doesn't break the bank like it does in some cities.
