I don't know when I last saw a band in a stadium-type venue in the States (and I've done so rarely). But $76 for a back row seat for Sigur Ros?

In my day, a teenager could afford to get in to see the Stones or The Who, then out run security to get near the front.

Wow! She sure doesn't look like she's 8 anymore.

How was the performance?

They did a good job.  Big show, lots of characters, lots of dance: ideal for a high school because plenty of opportunities.

I'm rooting for West Side Story next.

I'm (reverse) reminded of a friend's daughter, flush from playing Sally Bowles in high school Cabaret, bugging her drama coach to produce Liza the following year.    Never the shiniest bulb in the chandelier.

:D

West Side Story makes so much sense for this school. They only have one really good male singer next year (we know of), and he's from Kentucky: therefore Tony. Bernardo doesn't have any vocally challenging songs. But the school is full of Marias and Anitas.

There is pressure to do Sound of Music from the girl who's a really good singer and looks like Julie Andrews. But I don't know where the rest of that cast comes from.

All a learning experience.

One of the things I hate about Cabaret (and Chicago, for that matter) is that high school students would want to perform it/them.

Of course, when getting older one drags other people along.

I am invited to see Sheryl Crow in concert next week. I last saw her live and in person 27 years ago.
