A spokesman for Fahvre today said that Brett had no timetable for making a decision.

The Jets need to move on. It was a bad idea to bring him in from the get go. They would have won more games with Pennington given that they had strengthened the offensive line. Bye bye Brett.

Brett, stop playing. Do some commercials. Get a commentator gig.

I can sympathize with him. He's no longer a great QB but he's better than average and can still throw the long ball. The problem is that his tendency to throw interceptions is no longer balanced out by his strengths. Because he was a legitimate star for so many years he doesn't want to take the Vinny Testaverde route and become an honorable backup QB.

He wants to play, I'm happy; he doesn't want to play, I'm happy. I just don't want all sports news programming for the next six months to be about whether he's made up his mind.

he's the greatest athlete in the world because he's just like a little boy who wants to play. he has so much fun in the game, and that's why it's so great to watch him. i mean, are you going to criticize his interception to completion ratio in the abstract? have you thought about how amazing those interceptions would be if they weren't intercepted? he's like a cross between a 10 year old boy and a golden retriever puppy. if you criticize brett then you might as well go live in tora bora.

The Jets will win 8 or 9 games with Farve. Then he's probably retire or move on to the Vikings, leaving the Jets with a worse QB situation then they have now.

The Jets are idiots.

The ESPN story has this juicy detail -
QUOTE
While Favre did not directly broach the subject of the team simply releasing him so that he might have the option of signing with another team such as the Minnesota Vikings, a source said that Cook informally discussed the option with the Jets. The Jets respectfully declined that option, the source said.

Of course the Vikings went 10-6 last year and made the wild card game. They might not be willing to screw up Tavaris Jackson's development so Brett can get a shot at beating the Packers.

I doubt the Bears give him a shot. Lovie Smith is a smart coach and Kyle Orton isn't that bad.
