Good to know, thanks. I may go between September and November, if circumstances permit, but that won't work for my girlfriend...we may need to explore other options.

Exploring other options.

 

Weather-wise, late October / early November is ideal (culture day is on Nov 3, determined to be the sunniest day of the year) - can be chilly* but dry. Food-wise it's not half bad either. The best fish and seafood selection is June-July, but wet, wet, wet. 

 

* I mean chilly in southern European terms, not NE US terms.
