Eww, he played McCartney.

Watched the Dewey Cox movie last night, and was so happy with Jack Black's McCartney.

So here's the thing.  I hated Ram when it came out.  I mean, I HATED it.

But now, I have to say that the current conventional wisdom is right:  it really is the fundamental document of Brooklyn avant-pop.  Animal Collective likes to say that they came out of Smiley Smile and Pet Sounds, but really they came out of Ram.

Now that doesn't make Ram automatically good.  Brooklyn avant-pop in general, and most certainly Animal Collective in particular, have a lot wrong with them.

But it does make Ram something that it absolutely wasn't in 1971:  relevant.

(Also, the Deluxe Edition has "Another Day"/"Oh Woman Oh Why" on it.  I really love that single.)

See, I'd have to listen to Ram to offer a constructive response, and I am just so averse...

It sounds better now than it did then.

That is not the same thing as saying it sounds good.

But I'd have to say that, two nights ago, I no longer HATED it.
