Messiaen/Kaija Saariaho:  The Edge of Light (Gloria Cheng/Calder Quartet) (a deeply beautiful, engrossing record)

Cedar Walton:  Manhattan Afternoon (one of those records that seemed kind of ordinary upon release, but seem invaluable now)

Chick Webb & Ella Fitzgerald:  The Complete Chick Webb & Ella Fitzgerald Decca Sessions (1934-1941) (Discs VII & VIII) (and here, by the end of the set, she is:  one of the greatest singers on the face of the earth)

Anja Harteros:  Bella Voce (arias and scenas by Mozart/Haydn) (she's not Ella or anything -- but she's pretty great)
