Happy birthday!  (Shouldn't that be in the "You Know You're Getting Older . . . ." thread?)

Holst:  Somerset Rhapsody/Beni Mora/Invocation for Cello & Orchestra/Fugal Overture/Egdon Heath/Hammersmith (Tim Hugh//David Lloyd-Jones/Royal Scottish National Orchestra) (pleasant enough, but to be honest I prefer Acker Bilk)

Schubert:  Symphonies Nos. 3, 5 & 6 (Beecham/Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) (the world cares, but some of my personal favorite orchestral recordings like ever)

Kaija Saariaho:  Quatre Instants/Terra Memoria for String Orchestra/Émilie Suite (Vourch//Letonja/Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg)

Pacific Quartet:  Declarations (string quartets by Janáček/Crawford Seeger/Hindemith)

Hélène Grimaud:  Memory (piano music by Valentin Silvestrov/Debussy/Satie/Chopin/Nitin Sawhney) (very highly recommended)

Brahms:  Symphony No. 3//Dvorák:  Symphony No. 8 (Szell/Concertgebouw Orchestra)

Falla:  Noches en los Jardines de España/Tres Danzas de El Sombrero de Tres Picos/Suite de El Amor Brujo/Cuatro Piezas Españolas/Fantasia Bética (de Larrocha//Comissiona/L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande)

Beethoven:  Piano Trios Nos. 7 "Archduke", 8, 11 & 12 (Trio Wanderer)

Czerny:  Introduction & Rondo Brillant/Piano Concerto No. 1/Introduction, Rondo & Variations on Weber's Hunting Chorus from the opera "Euryanthe" (Tuck//Bonynge/English Chamber Orchestra)

Teddy Edwards:  Feelin's (reminds me of someone's observation that white label owners always used to give white jazz musicians' albums names like Jazz Goes to College, whereas they gave black jazz musicians' albums names like Gettin' Inta Sumpthin')

Les Delicés:  Songs Without Words (actually reminiscent of Acker Bilk)

Nuria Rial/Artemandoline:  Sospiri d'Amanti

I’ve a feeling we have a different thread for being too old to remember what I played today?

They’re playing John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” at Frenchette right now, and I just want to kiss somebody.

This restaurant is named after a NEW YORK DOLLS song, for God’s sake.

It’s like if you went to a restaurant called Venus in Furs, and all they played was John Denver.
