Over/Under on Tebow mentions during the Gators-Vols game on 9/18? 20
I think there is too much parity in the SEC this year - the winner will have two losses at least - so it'll come down to overrated Big 12 winner vs random Pac10/Big10 team.
If I'm a Big 10 fan I'm hoping PSU doesn't get crushed by 'Bama.
First big game is Monday VaTech/BSU.

My conference is over at 5 today and there's a sports bar only a block or so down the street.

It will be nearly impossible for Alabama to repeat. We play 5 (currently ranked) Top 25 teams. We meet 6 SEC teams who have an open week before they play us. Mark Ingram had (supposedly) minor knee surgery on Monday. He will be out a minimum of two games, more likely 3. Although, I said last year, before he won the Heisman, that his back up, Trent Richardson would be Alabama's first Heisman winner. I was more than happy to be wrong about that. Our defense is very green. I think the winner of the SEC will lose 1 game, rather than two. The Gators winning the East, relatively easily. And, the West coming down to the Alabama-Auburn game the day after Thanksgiving. All that said, everything hinges on avoiding injuries to starters.
ROLL TIDE!!!!
PS-Might want to raise that over/under on Tebow comments to 30...

This should maybe go in the surreal section - but walking through Rock Center to my office I saw a pack of woman dressed in BSU colors waving foam fingers.

you scalped SJS state for $125 a pop? You people really are crazy.Come on, Bonner...you mean you don't consider Bama's match up Saturday against perinnial powerhouse San Jose State to be the first BIG game

. I mean, SJS went 2-10 last year, (for the curious the line is Bama-39). I scalped a couple of spares for $125 each, so the Bama fans think it's a big game. I will admit I am looking forward to the game against Penn State next week with a tad more anticipation (and the extras there went for over 1K-thank goodness scalping is legal in Alabama
).

You are far too sanguine about Florida's hopes. Lots lost on defense, no proven between the tackles back, and as much as I want to not be nervous about Brantley kind of hard not to be. Plus, Addazio. Gators lose at 'Bama and then drop some random game. Probably UGa, although Miss State wouldn't be out of character for down years even though its home. I really want to say USCe, but that's at home as well. I refuse to even contemplate losing to FSU.
I'm going to my first game in Gainesville in years, LSU on 10/9.

It will be interesting to see what Kelly can do at Notre Dame.
If LSU doesnt turn it around, someone will be out of a job.
There is a lot of parity in the SEC this year. Spurrier and Petrino need to seize the opportunity to do something more with their programs.

Shame you're not making the trek to Tuscaloosa in October. We could jawbone in person.
I suspect you are correct, Ron. It's just matter of which game we go flat (like Tennessee last year where Cody pulled of the 2nd miracle block to save the undefeated season). I'm going to the game in Baton Rouge in Nov. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to see Les lose at home. That would probably be the last nail in his coffin--unless LSU is undefeated at that point.
PS-That 'flat' game could very well come at South Carolina or Arkansas.

They looked AWESOME against Hawaii last night.is this usc team the greatest team in college football history? most experts agree it is. cheeks (upper and lower) will be crimson at the ncaa offices come january as the team they persecuted as part of a huge east coast conspiracy is going to sweep the polls and the heisman voting, despite not being allowed to play in the post-season.

In other news anyone know of a center comfortable in the shotgun who might be interested in grad school?

ugh. picked a flag up on a penalty on the kick, called a terrible "late hit" penalty - it isn't a late hit if it isn't clear the player is out of bounds and he is still making "football type moves", and the miss a PI on the last play of the game. And for this we get Boise State in the BCS championship game. Thanks Va Tech for spotting them 17 points, and thanks for getting so tight in you play calling that you couldn't move the ball on your last drive. Oregon State is our only hope - because if Boise State is really even a top 10 team then CFB is terrible this year.

No reason to hate on Boise State. Bad or close calls go both ways. That's not why Va Tech lost. They lost because they played much of the game like a sack of shit. Moments of their true ability were interrupted by long stretches of mediocrity and bone-head mistakes. The Boise boys wring every last bit out of their potential. The Hokies should be embarrassed. Now, Boise State only has one more game they have to win.

I just find it so frustrating that by scheduling one game against a team noted for inconsistency (Oregon last year, Va Tech this year) they can inject themselves into the BCS discussion.

You are of course 100% correct that it was entirely Va Tech's fault. Now we need Va Tech to go be the inconsistent mediocrity they appeared to be last night.

yes, the system is a joke. we need a playoff that works within the existing bowl system.
