US beat Russia 13-6 last night. Good in spots, should have scored a lot more, scrappy game. Brilliant try by life long New Yorker Mike Petri.

SA gave Fiji a good thumping, 49-3, though not nearly as bad as the trouncing Japan suffered at NZ's hands. Japan always seems to lose by huge scores--one wonders why they bother.

Canadian center, Adam Kleeberger, looks a little bit like Father Time.

Do you know where the games might be shown in NYC where one doesn't have to pay an outrageous cover fee? N is a huge Springbok fan, and she would very much like to see SA defend its title. (Though their poor performance in the Tri-Nations isn't a good sign.)

I have seen plenty of bars showing the games while walking around. British/Irish/Aussie boozers: should be easy to find. Oh, and South African boozers of course, if any.

Eta: Think I'll watch the 1974 Barbarians videos on YouTube again.

Woodwork on Vanderbilt Avenue -- not that that's remotely convenient for you guys.

(You could sleep in my guest room if you want.)

Now that I've looked at the full knockout round schedule, I don't think we'll be going anywhere. All of the matches start between 1 and 4 AM Eastern time.

So that's what England resorted to in order to steal an advantage in this closely contested game.

Sorry g., Wales lost a tough one to France last night. France plays the winner of tonight's NZ-Australia game (4AM EST). NZ is on the verge of losing it's collective mind - down to a third string flyhalf, an injured captain, and their full back. Reading the papers is like watching a mental breakdown in slow mo. Set your Tivos, it's going to be great.

Although I'm not much of a rugby fan, the Frenchies are wildly excited about their team.

I had friends who threw a Saturday morning champagne party to watch the game.

Me ? I had to skip that because it was a work day for me.

The mouthfuls middle management slavemasters threatened to fire me if I didn't work this weekend. Hence, I worked.

Hopefully, if my bastard bosses give me a couple of hours off next Sunday, I'll watch the finals.

In between now and then, can someone please explain the 50% of the rules to this game that I don't really understand ?

Mercy buckets.

Mongo may have started it, but the odor confirmed it.
