Best burger: BUCU BURGER!!! (Paramus) The atmosphere is a little like a Starbucks with burgers.

I haven't been there in a while unfortunately, but a close second might be the burger at JD's Steak Pit (Fort Lee, off the menu). I'd like to get back there soon and see if they still have it and if it's as good.
PS -- I like Finnegan's (Westwood). Good burger and a good hangout. Used to go there a lot. Not as much now, but whenever I do, good times.

In my opinion, for my tastes, liking, etc. -- the best burger is Cheeseburger Cheeseburger (East Rutherford). Hands down.

If you mean "Cheeburger", I think that BUCU is just a hands-down better tasting burger...

LOL. Failure at spell check, LOL. Thanks.
Yes, that's what I meant "Cheeburger Cheeburger" -- and like I said, for me, I think "Cheeburger Cheeburger" is the clear-cut best burger in the area. To me, using your words, "Cheeburger Cheeburger" is just a hands-down better tasting burger...
Like I always say, "chocolate and vanilla" -- thanks again for the clarification.

Where do you feel BUCU falls short?

I'm surprised you like Cheeburger better than BUCU. To me, it's no contest, BUCU wins by a mile...

Don't be surprised. You don't know me, LOL. We can agree on this much -- like you, to me, it's no contest, Cheeburger Cheeburger wins by a mile. BUCU doesn't fall short so to speak. It's a good burger. I go there. It's around the corner from my office. I didn't think it was as "hearty" or "meaty" as in substantial, substance, etc., but that could have been the day. Who knows. Certainly easier to go there for me. However, as far as what I think is a better burger, it's Cheeburger Cheeburger. Simply just a much better tasting burger with more flavor. I just like the burger much better. Like I said, some people like chocolate and some like vanilla. No right or wrong. No better or worse other than my taste, your taste, and someone else's.
My associate, who I have lunch with all the time loves burgers. It's about all he eats for lunch, LOL. He likes Bobby Flay's better than both of the other two!!! Me? I can't see it but he likes what he likes. Good for him! LOL.
Thanks.

Contrast this to Rutt's Hut, an old school Jersey hot dog legend. You can't even get across the parking lot without encountering pigeons who are so bold that they try to take bites of hot dogs from people who are walking to their cars. These pigeons are so brazen that they routinely shake down rats for lunch money.

Cheeburger Cheeburger (assuming you mean Rutherford because I'm not aware he opened others here yet) actually makes a pretty solid burger although I prefer the smaller size ones ((Semi-Serious or the Serious) and go with less craziness on the toppings. You can go wrong if you get one that is too big, because then it doesn't get that nice griddled surface area.

BUCU is a very solid burger place as is Smashburger. All 3 are stylistically very different and I enjoy all 3.

Dutch House burger very overrated.
Shannon Rose Irish Pub....why bother?
Christine Nunn who owns Picnic loves Dutch House. Probably because it's right by her business and where she lives and grew up, but she loves that burger. The one time we went for lunch and I tried the thing was totally overcooked when I asked for medium rare. We both attributed this to the day we went because the main grill chef didn't cook it, but who knows. I'm not going to drive all the way to Fair Lawn for a burger when I have several good places near where I live. If I'm going to drive to Fair Lawn from Tenafly I'm eating at Picnic.

I believe Dutch House gets its burger mixture from the Swiss Pork Store, also in Fair Lawn. I don't know if it's a custom grind.
I'd rate Dutch House above BuCu and above Bobby Flay's in that area. Haven't tried Cheeburger yet, but it would have to go a ways to unseat Krug's $7 burger as #1 in my burger hierarchy

Didn't know that about the Dutch House (if in fact they do get their meat from the Swiss Pork Store).
Completely agree about Krug's -- it is an excellent burger. I like it a lot. Not local to me, but if I am nearby at a meeting or something -- I'll go there for lunch in a heartbeat. LOL.

And if we're going with a burger that is loaded with all sorts of distractions, I happen to agree with your friend and like Bobby's Philly burger the best. lol. I tried the burger with pulled pork at BuCu just the other day and found it surprisingly MEH...and BuCu is straddling that fine line of being pricey and down right ridiculously expensive. I got the pulled pork burger, a side of their basic shoestrings and a small fountain drink (all despicable Pepsi products by the way) and with tax it was almost 13 bucks...if you leave the girl that runs your food a buck plus the change, you're talking 15 bucks for one person to have a quick casual burger. That's high...despite the huge flatscreens and free WiFi...

... a side as good as the wedges at BuCu...
Thank you, thank you (takes a virtual bow).
