Agreed with you on the musical aspects of the performance. I enjoyed it overall.
It's just that, for me at least, the staging, was, despite being heavily promoted, alternately useless, trite, patronizing, and infuriating. Also, there weren't even any puppets. I expected puppets.
Looking forward to catching this later with Les Arts Florissants, without random stuff happening on stage.
This reminds me of my rant about SF Ballet's Cinderella without fairy godmother or mice.

I don't want to be a spoilsport, but I have to say I have not been overjoyed with Christie's Haydn in the past.
(I mean, I'm gonna BE there and all.)

Really loved CT&Co's "Bzzz".
