I once overheard what looked like an NYU student ask "What's the name of the guy who said every one would be famous for 15 minutes?"

Wasn't that Yogi?

That reminds me of a happier time. Before 50 when everything began to seize up, refuse to function or drop off.

At Bar Toto, there is a conversation with a new server, 30-something, who has never eaten salmon. “Does it taste like fish?” Answers range from “It is fish,” to “Tastes just like chicken.” The owner, with a real helpful air, announces that it is farm-raised salmon. This is a red flag for her. “You mean it doesn’t occur in nature?”

Appropriate answer: "No, but it's nature-identical."

I was disappointed that just missed this encounter. I like to be helpful in these circumstances and would have told the girl that farm raised salmon are genetically engineered to live on land. They have feet and can breathe air so they can graze with the other herd animals.

For some reason I had that same thought yesterday & I wasn't even reading MF at the time.

Some movie about the Alamo came out and I was talking to a friend and said "there's a famous statement about that. What is it?" :D

. . . . right. remember it.

not one of my finer moments.

Just heard right outside the window by an obviously loud talker -

"I'm taking a walk home and out of your life"

Hmmmmm......break-up call?

And what is it with all these threads that have lain dormant for 6 years & have suddenly become active again?

During the recent harsh weather:

"It's coming from the Arctic Circle, or wherever."

Or wherever???

Also, same bar, different person:

"Do you have anything like a Belgian ale?"

Bartender: We don't actually have any Belgian ales.  What are you looking for?

"Something light and crisp."

Oh, perhaps a Chimay Blue or a Mort Subite?

They were probably thinking along the lines of Stella. ;)

So, seeing this thread—started by Jinmyo, I am curious if anyone has heard from/about her.

"Do you have a menu?"

Yes.

"That would be awesome."
