Ledger reports on the soft opening:

waterfront space formerly occupied by Michael Anthony's, and which was renovated by Anthony Carrino of "Kitchen Cousins" with a modern nautical theme.

Battello, 502 Washington Blvd., offers a seafood-forward menu with an Italian accent: grilled octopus with green olive tapenade, squid ink cavatelli with blue crab amatriciana, pancetta-wrapped scallops, rice-crusted skate wing with fava bean risotto and pignoli-crusted black cod. The desserts seem even more inventive — maple cheesecake with black sesame tahini, green apple sorbet, bacon brittle and lemon-sugar cookie crumbs.

Teresa Politano likes it a lot in the Ledger review.  "Crazy busy" says chef Ryan

The NY Times regional is nowhere near as impressed.  "Good" is not an impressive rating.

Liked the great view, and the decor. Didn't especially care for the food, other than the pork.  My guess, based on a few years dining at Fascino and Bar Cara, is there will be a whuppin' and some butt kicking going on.

Fascino, and the now sold Bar Cara, benefited from having multiple DePersio people on site each day. And a really close listening to the customers' experiences.

Ryan DePersio has several openings for high volume banquet line cooks  etc for Battello.  Sounds like business continues to be very good.

If you and/or someone you know is a passionate cook with high volume experience is looking for an opportunity to work in our kitchen, Chef Ryan DePersio is seeking a banquet line cook, restaurant line cook and banquet sous chef to join our team

Closing for "several weeks" due to pier work. Short notice, a lot of brides will be unhappy.

Even shorter notice than expected, the city shut them down yesterday. Four weddings scheduled for this weekend...
