The new Torrisi restaurant in the Four Seasons space will be called The Landmarc.  Sorry, Landmark.  No, The Landmark.

Genius.

I am wondering if they paid off the Landmarc owners.

(Although, to be fair, they're NOT the guys who opened The NoMad.)

I don't really think there's a legal problem, but it's rather unimaginative.

When the Nomad first opened, I left in friend in charge of making our reservation for us and our others. You can imagine where this story went...

The New Yorker has a lengthy article about the pretentious four douche-keteers' (Major Food Groups' Torrisi, Carbone, Zalaznick & their even douchier Landlord Aby Rosen) plans on the new Landmark. They want to make this a 'destination' restaurant at $150.00 a person.

Aby Rosen "notoriously fought with the New York Landmarks Conservancy for the right to take down a 19-by-20-foot Picasso painting that hung in the hall between the Grill Room and the Pool Room, referring to the piece, according to the conservancy, as “a shmatte.

"The team bought two Viennese dessert carts from a family in Brooklyn to use as service trolleys that cost $10,000 each. Steak knifes cost $253 each and have Hawaiian acacia-wood handles and a Japanese steel blade. And at one point, they created a dinner plate with a pattern that was a modernized version of the china designed for the Kennedy White House."

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

Landmarc Chef Marc Murphy is suing the Landmark owners over their use of a 'confusingly similar' name.

Well I could see that coming.  In fact, I think everyone could except Major Food Group.

They could change the name to Sahib II.

It looks like Chef Marc Murphy won his lawsuit. Major Food Groups is removing any mention of the word Landmark, & will just keep separate names for the two restaurants (The Grill & The Pool).

Well, it was settled, and not surprising. What were they thinking?
