Reprise of the cavalo Nero salad (only constant on the menu)

Is the current menu significantly different than the website? 'Cause like half the menu on the site is stuff that's been there for two+ years.

A friend nearly ordered the 900 dollar steak because he misheard the pricing

There's also that $1200 steak at "The" Grill.

With the sound levels in that dining room this comes as no surprise.  Must have been quite a dialogue afterwards.

A favorite conversation:

Husband: "Can you ask them to please turn down the track a little?"

Server:  "I'm sorry.  Could you repeat that?   I couldn't hear you."

Sometimes it's just that people don't listen.  That happened to me recently (in a restaurant that was by no means noisy), when a friend ordered for himself the $125 steak special (obviously meant for sharing in a restaurant where the most expensive main dish was otherwise $35) because he was so taken with waiter's description of it as "an aggressive steak order" that wasn't paying attention when the waiter went on to recite that, depending on weight, it would cost "from about $120 to about $135".

I was going to say something.  But he had just gotten over surgery for something fairly serious and I decided to let him have fun and have a lot of leftovers (even if it cost me when we split the check).

(I'll add that this is another problem with eating out with people who don't eat out a lot.)

I always order a $200+ bottle of wine when the person with whom I'm splitting the check doesn't drink - figure it's just the cost of the pleasure to dine with me.
