in which we eat the set lunch at tamarind and find the food to run the gamut from excellent to unremarkable.

not all indian food in london is good. but even this random curry house in shepherd's bush had better kababs than you'll find in most places in the u.s (and no red food colouring in them).

you were wondering what a sunday lunch buffet in a random curry house in west london might be like. here is your answer: cinnamon lounge.

salaam namaste, in the russell square/bloomsbury area, would be one of the best indian restaurants in most american cities but in london it occupies a middle ground between standard issue curry houses and even more ambitious michelin bait places. i organized a large group dinner here at the end of our stay. given the size of the group we had to do one of their set dinners. very good value at £30.95 and some things were very good indeed; only one thing was not good (an overly sweet tikka masala ordered by one member of the group--it seemed like it involved coconut for some reason). would recommend if looking for indian food in the area.

rather good lunch today with friends at tandoor chop house in covent garden. a small menu, almost everything from the tandoor, everything very good. the best naan i've had in london and very good lamb chops, ribeye and whole sea bream.
