I've emailed my extended family, some of whom are there regularly. they say street food is where it's at and actually safer than most restaurants wrt to food poisoning, where the most dangerous places are mid level restaurants and restaurants in mid level hotels. they also say: padang restaurants, which are sumatran and have pyramids of plates in the windows, are the best places to get rendang.

I can also pass on a list of recommended dishes if you like.

Any thoughts are much appreciated. Also what neighborhoods are best to walk around in for food.    Also a view on which of the high end business hotels are best? I have zero intel. like my travel person had to look up the airport code bad.

apparently traffic is completely insane and you may want to stay close to your hotel, but it sounds like you don't know where that is. I'll ask about that too.

I'm kinda used to EM travel at this point.  I'm not too nervous about Jakarta

Assume it'll be where ever the corporate stuff is centered.
