Seriously? And Jonathan Gold says it's the best new restaurant this year?

Opening lines, "A meal at Vespertine may begin with a water spinach stem bedazzled with pike caviar and flowers."

"The Goldster Does Not Buy Into the Hype of Out-of-Town Restaurateurs" Well, yeah. Hardly anybody, anywhere, likes it when out-of-town restaurateurs come in with guns blazing, as it were. (Unless they are French or Nordic, that is, at least in NYC.) Govind Armstrong, anyone? But if they have the patience to keep their heads down, maybe eventually they'll be accepted. Stephen Starr, for one.
