“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

this struck an odd note. i guess i should be used to these statements by now

And as Thompson leaves to “focus on his work exploring and protecting the history and legacy of Thai food,”

It seems to be a quote from this (https://m.theworlds5...w-projects.html), which reads like a press release.

Yes, you should definitely go there! When I was there a month ago, she had already revamped much of the menu and the food blew me away. Im in an airport lounge on the way back from VN now, but Ill try to give some details later.

Glad you liked it! Im going back in a few months and couldnt be more excited. For future visitors, the hotel where Nahm is located, the Como Metropolitan is very nice. Ill be staying there again too.

If youre in Taipei right now, I have time for a quick beer before I go to my gate. Im in the Plaza Premium Lounge near A :)

Yes, EVA. Im already regretting not upgrading to business, because the food on the HAN-TPE leg in economy wasnt great. My bad for waiting until the last minute to book the flight home. Needed to save some award points for Sept too :)

Does this qualify as bourgeois tragedy?   :)

Oh she got a Thomas Wolfe headline in the Times. I am so jealous.

In the last 20 seconds I wrote a book in my head about British food, and the Times review is headlined "Look Homeward, Wilfrid."
