A massive stroke. He was really young to have one, particularly as it looks like he was in decent shape.

Very sad. He coached my friend's kid's Little League team, and I got to meet him once, which involved us both pretending that I had no idea who he was. I'll miss him on Riverdale.

my kids do martial arts with a pretty big indie rock star from the early nineties. I only googled him because he reacted oddly when I asked him his name. nice enough guy, and seems to be a really good and involved parent, even though he has a reputation as an addict. anyways one day he looks at me and says our kids are so beautiful, what happened to us? I realized I didn’t know him well enough to state the obvious.

reading all the luke perry coverage i realize that i had not previously understood the place of beverly hills 90210 in american culture. perhaps because my intro to contemporary american pop culture when i arrived in the early 90s was mediated by various hip/snobbish literature grad students.

my annoying opinions: whisky, food and occasional cultural commentary

current restaurant review: house of curry (sri lankan in rosemount, mn)

current whisky review: glen ord 28

current recipe: white bean curry with green peppers

Note that Aaron Spelling pioneered the idea of premiering a prime time show in the summer.

He was just tired of Tori sitting in front of the TV with a bag of chips all day.

All I remember about Beverly Hills is that there was a pretty blonde actress who wasn’t Tori Spelling or, obviously, the dark haired one.
