Okay there is no speaking ill of the dead, but I had to abandon that legendary work because of the semi-colons. I have never seen so many semi-colons.

Just me probably; feeling that way; about punctuation.

If people felt that way about em dashes and colons, I'd have to go out of business.

(A friend once read something I'd written.  "Would you like my comments about punctuation?" she asked.  "No," I replied.)

I stopped reading Dick Hebdige’s famous Subculture: The Meaning of Style because it had a footnoted citation for everything, probably even for his name. I don’t like Dick.

(That’s a literary joke, not a smutty one.)

But of course I was on Law Review, so footnotes are my life.

I liked I Like Dick a lot more. You’d like it, but you’ve probably read it. The performance art stuff.

I feel bad about the thread, but I don’t know anything about Richardson other than Picasso.

I bought a copy of I Love Dick ages ago, but I never got around to reading it. Now that it's been a TV show, I kind of feel I can't.

I did not know it was a TV show.
