You know, Seth, I tried to go to Enid’s a few weeks ago and was very surprised to find it closed.

There must be some commentary to be made on nyc euro-ethnic cuisine when a Hungarian restaurant offers:

 

Half dozen broiled oysters with smoked rosemary schmaltz. 

Dry aged rib eye for two, marrow, potato, blah blah

 

While a British one offers:

 

Grilled belon oysters, smoked rosemary, hollandaise. 

Rib of beef for two, marrow, blah blaa

 

And a French(ette) one of course also has grilled belons some days (I don't recall if they smoke rosemary) and a cote de boeuf


sandwiches that are large and filling and do not contain tuna or prawns

was very impressed with the effort.. Homemade charcuterie, crackers, bread, pie dough, it's certainly hard working and skilled.. Staff was lovely, the room was comfortable.  We had the oysters, fried croquetas, the pot pie and the lamb tongue salad.   I enjoyed everything, felt the tongue salad was pretty weak but, everything else was really good..   I am happy to go back and try the cockles, the skate wing, the burger looked awesome and actually a few other things.. . 

 

It reminded me of Allswell/Olmstead hybrid.  

 

Jax ate like a champ, had everything but the salad.
