watched it today. i'm a scaredy cat and i wasn't too scared at any point.

 

i thought it was gripping, deeply fun/disturbing but that finally there was less to it than met the eye. i like that it can't be collapsed into any single allegorical reading but all of the overlapping readings possible seem a bit trite.


my annoying opinions: whisky, food and occasional cultural commentary

 

current restaurant review: house of curry (sri lankan in rosemount, mn)

 

current whisky review: glen ord 28

 

current recipe: white bean curry with green peppers

 

 

facts are meaningless. you could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

Mr. Lane takes the view that "Us" is "political filmmaking of the most spirited sort" a struggle between the upper class and the underclass.  Just sayin'.

Yes he did, but if we follow that reading, it seems quite hostile to the underclass. There is no doubt who the audience is encouraged to root for. Brecht would have written it differently, and given the underclass better lines.
