A real music legend.

No, no, no.

What a career. I’ll be going back to his live solo piano concerts tonight, standing on Longhair’s shoulders.

But, like Glen Campbell, he was primarily a guitarist.

Well he was everything. Chaque amour, Mac.

I believe he switched from guitar to piano after having part of a finger shot off

That is something I just learned.

Glen Campbell took up bagpipes after an injury to his sublime good taste. 😂

I learned the news about Dr John sitting in a Chicago cocktail bar this evening, and was slow to realize I was hearing “Right Place, Wrong Time” on the sound system. Then another Dr John track, and another.

I can’t remember the last time, if ever, I’ve gone over to a DJ booth and hugged it out with the DJ. I even called him “dude,” which is not what I do.

This is one I am bound to remember. I heard about Princess Diana’s death in a blues club in some back end of New Orleans, because the guy on stage announced it and then made up a blues about her; and of course I thought he was on a bad taste trip until I got to a TV. No, we didn’t have phones then...

If you have not yet seen the New Orleans episode of HBO’s Sonic Highways, today would be a good day to check it out. An excellent little segment with Dr. John.

Will be one helluva funeral in New Orleans.

They're already having the first of many second-line parades today.

Gonna make red beans and rice the evening in tribute.

WWOZ will be live streaming Saturday's memorial service from 1PM-3PM Central. Should be special.
