Simple late summer meal: this pasta with zucchini, tomatoes (some of both from our garden), mushrooms, herbs, and a bit of grated romano.  Meyer lemon "gimlets" to start; Tongan pineapple pie from the local Catholic church fest for dessert.

Large pasilla chilis stuffed with oaxacan cheese, egg batter, pan fried; Mexican sour cream.  Side of brown and crunchy refried mashed potatoes.

No pics since I don't want to challenge joe for ugliest plating.

You're too kind. But not a bad category - Ugliest Plates of Food Eaten at Home and at Restaurants

My typical Yom Kippur break fast usually includes smoked whitefish salad on a bagel, but the place where I buy my whitefish salad (chunky style) just filed for chapter 11, so in order to get my post-fast smoked fish fix dinner was a large salad with local veg, chunks of smoked rainbow trout and tehina dressing.

And? And? (How was it?)

I ate more sturgeon last night than I’ve eaten all year.

I gave my fellow diners a fair chance, but then I went in for the kill.

How was my fast or how was my salad? The salad was good, but not as good as whitefish salad would have been. On the plus side, the boy really likes eating smoked fish. And lettuce. Since when do 4 year olds like eating lettuce?

I would buy my whitefish salad at Seasons which was a mini-chain of kosher markets. They over expanded outside of NY and over extended themselves. It's annoying because we're now down to a single kosher market in the neighborhood. They made their own whitefish salad and their walnut raisin baked farmer cheese was outstanding. Mostly, we shop in either Brooklyn or Queens.
