I'm going to be banned from my local. I can't believe it.

Right. She saw you as nothing more than a strategic leak.

Until now, nobody there knew who "I" "am".

(I mean, they all knew me, obviously. But only as my meatworld self.)

Are you sure? Some places follow message boards very closely and have good memories. I was stunned several years ago when I learned that the Public people had made me.

At the end of a disastrous dinner at Casa Lever during which we had voiced our unhappiness and the house had the ill grace to argue with us about it we were waiting for forever for the waiter to return with our credit card slips. 'They are in the back,' said my friend, 'googling us.'

Let's put it this way. Since I write about maybe .000001% of my visits there, they'd have a hard time matching me up.

I scrolled back thinking you were talking about one of Sneak's dinner dates.

Visited Franny's again today, and again am struggling to understand why they don't have a Michelin Star. I had to visit the area to pick up a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle down the road, and was pretty excited to learn it was near Franny's. Had the fried olives, a delicious and gorgeous citrus salad with pistachios, olives and hot peppers and the buffalo mozzarella and tomato pizza. All were balanced, beautiful and flawlessly executed. This is easily the tastiest buffalo mozzarella pizza I've had since Una Pizza moved out West.

After eating here I walked down the road and was surprised to see how close the Nets new stadium is. I guess it won't matter after they move, but damn - Franny's + NBA game sounds like a good time in my book. Shame there is nothing like it 2 blocks from MSG.

Ate at the bar last weekend. The best thing I had was the spaghetti with Meyer lemon, which was perfect for a sleepy Sunday. The clam pizza was less good: the clams weren't great, and the crust lacked the springiness of good Neapolitan pizza, making it rather boring to eat. Puntarelle with walnuts was completely covered with shaved Pecorino Romano, making for an attractive plate. It was nice enough, but aside from the very crisp texture of the puntarelle, anchovy-soaked Puntarelle alla Romana is better to my taste.

I'm starting to think 2 Amys in DC is better overall. No pasta, but they certainly have more overall variety and crush Franny's on the dessert side.

I was fantasizing a couple of days ago about what life would be like if Franny's got a real pastry chef.

This isn't based on any inside information, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the prime motivating factors for the expansion was fear of being overrun by arena business. It's true that the new location is farther from the arena than the current one -- but you'd be surprised at how little farther it is than you may think. In any event, they may well have concluded that staying at the current location at their current size would have been intolerable once the arena opens.

Keens isn't so bad.
