So, who is making the fish noodles?

Pat and I are in.....
It may have been Camelot for Jack and Jacqueline
But on the Che Guevara highway filling up with gasoline
Fidel Castro's brother spies a rich lady who's crying
Over luxury's dissapointment
So he walks over and he's trying
To sympathize with her, but thinks that he should warn her

We actually would like to bring a fish dish, although I don't think it's going to be noodles. We have a dessert idea we're playing with too, if that turns out to fit in, but put us definitely down for a fish course.

I'm going to have to pass on this event. I have tried to wrap my mind around "food as art" and I don't think I have the plating talent to pull it off. I'm very much looking forward to seeing all of your works of art so be sure to take tons of pictures!

Actually, I am intimidated as well. All I can say is that I will do my best to try to understand the concept and express it adequately in food. Hopefully, I don't create a disaster. At least I will be expanding my boundaries. I would never do this with any other group of people. Wish us all luck. wl

I'd like to do a meat dish and possibly a before-dinner snack....

I'd like to do a something, I have no idea what yet. It just won't be dessert. I am afraid of dessert. The inside out lasagna idea has me kind of intrigued but I really really don't have a clue yet.

I'll be happy to do a dessert, if no one or only one person wants to We'll be 10-12, right? Two desserts would be within the realm of the possible. Mine could be kind of tiny and light.

We are having so much fun thinking about our fish. Honest, it's a topic each morning over coffee break.

Okay, I'm going with a savory main. I'll test it out this weekend and see if it works. How are we on appetizers? I'd be happy to do one.

Unfortunately, I mistakenly thought that event was going to be on a Saturday not Sunday. Dance and I are unable to attend the dinner. Darn, I was looking foreward to the high concept food. Much luck to you all... wl

Here we are!

Wendy and Dane. Dessert and amuse (maybe main?)
Rocky and Dani. Main (and maybe appetizers)
Abra and Shel. Fish and dessert
Pat and Vince. Main and perhaps snack and small dessert
Moi. Main.
Kim and Dave. ?
Laurel and Joe. ?

That's thirteen people, which is unfortunately beyond the limit of my (current) table (we'll have to split in two), so I'm going to close it out at this point.

We've got three mains at this point, plus fish, which we can do in semirandom order...

Predinner snacks--Vince
Amuse--Wendy
Appetizers--Rocky
Fish--Abra
Main--Vince
Main--Steve
Main--Rocky
Dessert--Wendy
Dessert--Abra
Dessert--Pat

Let's plan on small portions... (Quelle nouveau!)

Let's go with what we've done in the past--first plates hitting the table around 6:30, show up any time after 5. (Or earlier by previous application, with a note from your cardiologist.)

I realize, by the way, that what we're each making will become fairly apparent soon after everyone arrives, so maybe the secrecy is silly...? Maybe just give the main ingredient(s) so we can plan the flights? Thoughts?

Thanks,

Steve

Main ingredients for our offerings:

Vince: lamb
Pat: apple

I also have an idea for a veggie (seasonal and local, of course) appetizer, but if that's going to swell the number courses too much, I'll save it for another occasion.

Small portions are going to be key! I will have to fight my natural tendencies on this. I'm also trying to formulate my dish to minimize the amount of a la minute cooking, most of it will just need to be warmed or will be served cold. I'm planning to serve a particular beverage along with my dish (not wine), but how are we generally going to handle drinks? I was also wondering about plates. Pat and I may bring our own if that would simplify matters.

6:30 is workable for us, but if starting even earlier is a possibility, that would be great for those of us with a babysitter and an early start on Monday morning.

I'm sticking with the secrecy  so I'll bring wines for my courses.
