Turkey & The Wolf made Bon Appetit's list of 10 hottest restaurants in America.  The authors were on CBS this morning, discussing it. Came in at #1, hottest new restaurant in America.

More like a sandwich shop, not fine dining, but fine food. Collard green melt, home made mustard and bologna sandwich, biscuits with tempura mushrooms, cat dressed as a sandwich, wildly inventive foods, they say.

Have you forgotten that Torrisi et al started out with a supposedly great turkey sandwich? (I say supposedly because I never had it; they evolved too fast.)

Torrisi didn't have a cat dressed as a sandwich, though.

I do not know about the corkage. My guess would be it would be reasonable at Brigsten's. But I'd just give them a call and ask. Current list of favorites: Old and new

Compere Lapin

Sac a Lait

La Petite Grocery

Petite Lion

Herbsaint

Brennan's (Slade Rushing is the chef there--modern twists on NOLA cuisine)

Willa Jean

Galatoire's

Sea Worthy

Meauxbar

Shaya

Bevi Seafood

Cavan

Balise

Coquette

August

Mariza

Hope that helps a bit.

This is a useful list.  I notice Cochon doesn't appear.  Has it fallen off?

Will update tomorrow or Monday depending on how my travels go back from Alabama (unless you need an immediate response). Cochon is still good though.

Really appreciated. Last trip was pre-Katrina. Where does the time go?

Wow. We were there for a conference a few years ago (I probably posted about our meals at Coquette and Upperline) and took a public health-related tour of the Lower Ninth Ward. Ouch.

You're welcome. The city has blossomed since Katrina...which sounds so odd to say. But so many neighborhoods that were in disrepair have been gentrified. Unfortunately, with the money that has moved to the city, the criminal element has also returned with a vengeance after a long respite  :(
