I love Ellroy, even when I hate him for pounding the same story. It is an addiction, you know that first taste, know how you're going to fly...just don't know how you're going to land. I wear LA much like he does. Although a different generation, it's in my pores, and no matter where I go I keep landing back here.
I loved what Curtis Hanson did with LA Confidential. What do you think De Palma's Black Dahlia will be like? I've always been a little fascinated with Betty Short - the penultimate example of "see what happens" to good girls gone bad. I was in the Bristol Hotel (one of the places she stayed before her murder) down on 8th St. before Adolfo Suaya cleared the place and let me tell ya - creepshow fuck even in it's best day. I can imagine what her life was like. Wonder if De Palma ( I can't make a movie without Hitchcock) will do her justice?

Maybe if he doesn't spend too much time on the woman cut in two angle.

She bugs.
But in Ellroy's story she's the catalyst and the demon but not the main focus.

Mia Kirschner (Jenny onThe L word ) plays Elizabeth Short.
I think it was the late Jack Smith who dubbed Ms. Short the Black Dahlia.

Whichever side you're on, the other side doesn't just have bad ideas, they have to be bad people too.
People like her are always scared. It’s a lonely world when you’re just so damned right and everyone else is so stupid. That’s why God made cats.
He tended to date high-strung women — another symptom of his shyness. "Say what you want about them, psychotics tend to make the first move."
When you get over-confident, you get your ass kicked with your own shoes. (Fabio, Top Chef)
They probably drink corporate water.

Is this the anti-Crash? Don't know if we are ready to laugh about this just yet.

Man, I lived that shit. Don't need to see it on no movie screen.
I'm waiting until it comes out on DVD.
