#1422659 The surrealism of everyday life

Only seen a couple in all the years I've lived in Las Vegas. Much more interesting was a coyote pup that would come out every afternoon at sunset and try and eat golf balls on the course behind my house. Never figured it out that they weren't edible. Guessing natural selection got him.

Did see plenty of rattlers, copperheads and water moccasins when I lived in N. Florida though. Had a preserved area that abutted the Intercoastal across the street.. Thankfully they were usually road kill. There were raccoons, armadillos and possums too. But the best was the alligator in the garage .

And if it's in BHM, you can go enjoy Frank Stitt's restaurants in person  ;) .

Why is it when you have an handful of pistachio nuts in the shell, the last one is always one is the nastiest, skankiest one?

Was walking in downtown Montreal with some of our taller Alabama men's basketball players. They clock in at 6'6" or taller. I am 5'5". One of our group speaks French. He was telling me he heard more than once- she's so small, how can she have so many tall boys 😝😝😝.

Yesterday Las Vegas tied its all time high temp of 117. It was still 110 at 8 pm. The next few days: Wed. 115; Thurs. 114; Fri. 113; Sat. 112; Sun. 112; Mon 111. We finally catch a break on Tuesday, when the temperature drops to a chilly 109  . Those temperatures are 10 +/- degrees above normal. I've lived here almost 20 years. This is the earliest we've ever had such an evil stretch of heat. I am not looking forward to the 'hot months'.

#1408696 A New Chapter for the Queen of Gelato/Ice Cream

Eater writes a very nice piece about Meredith Kurtzman's retirement. It's the end of an era for those of us who have had the pleasure of meeting/knowing Meredith (both in person and online) and enjoying her incredible gelatos. My best wishes and thank you for the incredible gelatos I go to enjoy. PS--I love the illustrations!

Wishing you the very best Meredith!
