Oh my!!!...

Ch de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape '00 -- Perfect dark red, lots of sediment, effusive bouquet, deep fruits, garrigue, smooth, lush, fruit-forward profile underpinned with solid grip, sophisticated complexity, lovely Mourvedre notes, really a glorious Beaucastel now and built for the long haul.

Ideal complement to lamb chops, grilled yellow beets, and sauteed spinach...then Gouda cheese and fruit.

I once had inedible mahi mahi (overcooked and tough as leather).  I just left it on the plate and ate the other things.  The waiter obviously observed this.

 

A short time later, the proprietor/chef came out and apologized.

 

I remained a happy regular of the establishment.

Don't you agree that exclamation points are appropriate with certain sentence forms?

 

As an example, "Sorry to hear about that!"  No subject, thus exclamation point is correct.

 

"Thank you!"  Same deal!

 

They aren't always used to indicate an exclamatory uplifting but also for correct grammatical punctuation.
