#1439147 You know you're getting older when...

When friends who appeared healthy for years spend a lot of time talking about their medical conditions, appointments, ailments, procedures, possible outcomes, side effects of medications.  Just pour me a drink.

i had not previously understood the place of beverly hills 90210 in american culture

Note that Aaron Spelling pioneered the idea of premiering a prime time show in the summer.

Last night I went to the Teragram Ballroom to see the Richard Thompson Electric Trio (which actually has a fourth, a guitar tech, sitting in on about half the numbers played).  I had not been to this small venue previously.  It's a standing room only spot that has a capacity of about 600, it's immaculately clean and it has wonderful acoustics.  Thompson's playing and singing were excellent.  Demographically the crowd skewed older than any rock concert I have ever attended.  It was like a Woodstock reunion without the tie dye.  I doubt there were more than 4 folks under 45 in the room (other than bartenders).  Thompson appreciated this and asked the crowd not to die and to keep on consuming (buying his recordings).

The opener was a young American singer-guitarist named Ryley Walker who showed promise.

Pretty good takeaways.  LA is, despite your misgivings, a city.

I can't argue your position on meeting notes but isn't your mind cluttered with keeping track of several months of appointments, due dates, reservations et al?

Granted I basically keep this stuff in my head besides a calendar, but I've no doubt your dance-card is much, much fuller than mine.

You have to have some records.  It's embarrassing when someone remembers your birthday and you have no idea when theirs is.

This is a well-made Disney film that demonstrates the craft Disney can bring to a project.  Emily Blunt steps into the Julie Andrews role flawlessly.  Lin-Manuel Miranda is good although you miss him rapping.  Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury have fun cameos.  Meryl Streep has a looney role that she enjoys.  And most of the cast gets to fly in the end.

Which cocktails did you imbibe?  When I'm living vicariously, I need details.

#1435050 T-Mobile v. Verizon

Posted by hollywood on 03 December 2018 - 08:11 AM

I am pretty sure Verizon has the best coverage in the country.  But it comes at a high and variable price.  I recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile under their 55+ program.  Basically, if you are 55 or over, they will charge you $55 total per month.  If you agree to autopay, they will charge you $50 per month (no extras for fees, taxes and all the other stuff Verizon piles on that frequently creeps up and up).  Then, you can add other lines of persons of any age for $20 additional dollars each.   Yes, you might get one bar less from time to time.  But you don't look at your bill wondering what charges have been added this month.  You don't have to like magenta, but maybe it helps.  Also, T-Mobile allows you to call anywhere in N. America without any charges or add ons.  If you go to Canada, you don't have to sign up for some additional fee as you do on Verizon (ditto Mexico, et al.).  Just sayin'.

You have to move there, but you have to work on the net or by telecommuting, then you get $10,000 over time and you get to live in Tulsa.  What's not to like?

Puck has lots of places and I imagine you can get his pizza at many of them (not Jersey).  Express specifically seems only to be near UCLA and in Orlando.  http://wolfgangpuck.com/#restaurants
