This is a casual all-day cafe from Gabe Stulman and co. that replaced Perla. It has sort of a chic downtown apartment vibe, what with the couches, the mod bookshelf, and the captains chairs at the bar. Somehow it landed on Food & Wine's best restaurants of the year for 2018 (the only place from NYC). The menu is limited and maybe a bit safe, but everything is cooked well.
Came in the late afternoon as the dining room was starting to clear out. We missed the brunch menu and wound up having a very nice early dinner. Really good white bean dip (they're calling it "hummus") with sinus-clearing harissa, country ham toasts with ricotta and apples. We split a chicken leg that was crisped up nice. The only disappointment were the yuca fries that came with it...kind of soggy. Great, well-cooked burger topped with pimento cheese and pickles for $11. I find that most of Stulman's restaurants make excellent burgers.
I don't know if it's one of the best restaurants in the country, but at the very least it seems like one of the better options in the neighborhood.
