Has any of you been to Il Mulino? If you have not - please please do not go! My boyfriend and I had the most miserable experience there for his birthday last month. The food was over salted, over oiled and just plain sloppy... and you they don't even let you choose your own wine at the bar when you are waiting for an hour and a half for a table - The only have cheap chianti in a huge bottle that is $15 a glass! Our meal cost almost $300 for 2 of us. They also served us a cardboard cake for his bday - he blew the candle out and then they took it off the table and brought it around to the next person whos birthday it was! I could write a book about every thing that happened to us at the restaurant - its unbelievable!

And its all because we couldn't get into Babbo until Novembrt...we should have waited it out!!!!

Excuse me. I'm just going to pull out my lawn chair and open up a can of beer to watch this.

I am wondering about Dwight, he sounds like I think, which is terrible. The warning signs about Il Mulino are all over this site. Waiting a month to get to Babbo or getting in at 5:30 or 10:00 beats the hell out of Il Mulino. Piece of shit joint making oodles.

There are other Italian restaurants in NYC besides Babbo.

On page 32 of the NY forum, there's another (short) Il Mulino thread I started in Feb '06:
http://mouthfulsfood...?showtopic=8447 I've never been to the Il Mulino in the W.Village and have heard similar stories about it. However, I was incredibly surprised and pleased with the meal I had at the L.I. branch. Not only the food, but the friendliness and interest. Oh well.

i've been a few times and had a wildly different experience than the original poster; order properly and it's great; regardless of how you order, it's expensive.

They closed last week.
