i had no idea that people sent others invites to join facebook. i opened something that normally would go into junk mail and found that i had like 50 invites from people i actually know. wtf? i'm not friggin' joining

They've got a pretty active metric for soliciting people to suggest members, and they will "suggest" friends of your friends for you to befriend.

Facebook has updated their privacy policy to make it less private.

Certain categories of information such as your name, profile photo, list of friends and pages you are a fan of, gender, geographic region, and networks you belong to are considered publicly available to everyone, including Facebook-enhanced applications, and therefore do not have privacy settings. You can, however, limit the ability of others to find this information through search using your search privacy settings.

That's because of this email I received the other day - see below. A mere slap on the wrist, as far as I'm concerned, to a company that mined the private internet activity of their members (when they were on other sites) and then broadast them to the world.

Okay, I have a stupid Facebook question: How come, when I go to my "Home" page, the updates from my friends are something like 12+ hours old. It used to be there were updates from friends that were Seconds or Minutes old, but when I look now, most of them are from yesterday...

The new setup is stupid, I know. But you can click on "View Live Feed" to see updates arranged chronologically.
