Oh, Helena.... can I go on and on about this. It is a medium I love and there are so many inspirational artists who has influenced me.
The first teacher who really had impact on me was Helen Shirk -- she showed me how to color metal. She forges and fabricates in copper (mostly) and the coloring is done with Prismacolors:

Textile Techniques in Metal and much of her work can be seen

http://www.jra.org/c.../images/hu3.jpgRichard Mawdsley is another pioneer, using tubing and miniature forming to create miniatures. This piece is called Feast Bracelet (the idea that it is a bracelet will give you an idea of the skill involved to create such tiny place settings).
