If you travelled and used your VISA, MasterCard or Diners Card to make purchases in foreign money (including catalog, eg Amazon) or to withdraw foreign currency abroad from Feb 1, 1996 through November 8, 2006, you are entitled to a refund.

At a minimum, you can request the EASY refund ($25.) if you certify that you spent a week abroad during this time. Period!

For an ESTIMATION refund, you tell them why you traveled and extimate the number of days you spent abroad. This will get you 1% of what "they" compute to be average expenditures.

If you are a real compulsive and still have your statements, just tally them up (it took me less than an hour) and, you will get from 1 to 3% back.

This is close to the most I've ever been paid for an hour's work, and certainly the easiest!

We discussed this a while back, but I understand (as you note) the deadline for submissions has been extended.

Whoopee, my bank can't retrieve the records for the relevant period (fortunately I kept old Diners Club statements, but I can't archive bank statements going back that far). I shall have to guess, and I am guessing it's a lot.

I had the miserable task of compiling a detailed travel journal during the green card application process, and that will be in a file somewhere. If they ask for documentation, they can have that.

Anyone else still messing around with this? I finally pulled all the data together, entered it into the online submission form. The web-site then told me I hadn't entered my refund number (I distinctly remembered doing so) and wiped it all.

The filing deadline has been pushed back further into May. Until all the submissions have been processed, they won't be able to pay any money out. You have to know how many slices you need to get out of the cake before you start handing them around.

One of Blovie's cases was consolidated into this class action. And I can't get him to pull the appropriate materials out of the "archive" in order to file a claim.

Well, I'm still "messing around with this." Meant to get it in before I left home on the Big Trip, but didn't. So I'm thrilled to hear that the deadline has been extended.

Mid-May, I think. I never could make the online submission work in the end, so I mailed it. I was beginning to feel that the time spent gathering the data was only barely justified.

Yawn. At least it appears the claims are being processed while the Court's approval is pending.

The current status of this class action settlement is that a decision to grant final approval of the settlement is pending before the Court. With the expiration of the claims submission period, on May 30, 2008, the Settlement Administrator has commenced the process of auditing and validating claims.
