I got one for my parents.
Eh.
Maybe we're not doing it right, bit it's not that fizzy. Certainly not as much as a bottle of seltzer or the seltzer that's delivered. (I've never used an ISI for anything other than whippets.) There's a taste of CO2, but barely a fizz when the bottle is opened.

The instructions say to pull the level until I hear a "buzz". Is that a short burst or like a 2 or 3 second burst?

Oh -- the two diet flavorings we tried were kind of gross.

You should be able to get it as fizzy or un- as you like. I blast until it buzzes and then give it 6 or 7 more blasts – it's way fizzier than anything purchased. Fizzy enough to make my eyes water.

The flavorings are disgusting. Don't bother.

Oh. The instructions said three buzzes, maybe four. I didn't want the thing to blow off the thing.

I've been looking at these for my husband. (I'm not a fizzy person.) He drinks tons of diet soda. He will want flavors, though, and I doubt the Splenda will bother him. Has anyone found any flavorings that are better than those offered by the company? From what I read here, those are dreadful.

I also found an ad and $20 coupon for Sodastream which appears to be the same type product and is available at Kohl's and Williams-Sonoma. Has anyone tried them or looked at them? Are they about the same? Better? Worse?

Decisions, decisions...

Sodastream and Sodaclub are the same thing. One or more of their units are sold at WS and Kohls.

The two diet flavors (cream and ginger ale) have that distinctive bitter aftertaste of artificial sweeteners. Someone who likes Tab or Fresca may not mind.

Thanks! Perhaps I'll pop over to Kohl's and check them out this weekend.

You forgot to note that it's NSFW.

PS -- My friends have one, and I think it's as "eh" as Stone does.

THAT was NSFW? Where do you work? A monastery?

I have been remembering this man with some real vigor over the past couple of days. He was a miserable stinker, although now that he has gone on to his reward I can't say what I really thought of him. But if I'm any judge of these things, I'll bet he's hotter than Squeat Mungry. DebVanD

The diet grapefruit is good, if you don't mind that Splenda taste. I wish it were a little less sweet, but it had a true grapefruit flavor.

I love mine. LOVE it. Love the sturdy bottles (FOUR!) and love the extra fizzy of the fourth shot of gas into the water.

The soda flavors look gackamous, but I did try the diet grapefruit one because I love grapefruit fizzy stuff. I couldn't get past the fake sweetener, though, but the grapefruit flavor was refreshing.

Are other people adding things to your bottles?

I'm drinking fizz, night and day. Oh so happy, and grateful to GG for the recommendation.

First cannister empty this morning, so that's just about one month exactly.

GG, what kinda mileage are you getting?

And what other concoctions are you using these in? Mojitos?

I took mine to my party yesterday, and people acted like it was something so exotic.

Love the fizz.

Comparable.

Don't really use it for anything else.

broadway panhandler on 8th street is selling these now.

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

We've had one of these in the office for a few months. Our CEO is forever looking for ways to provide soda without installing a soda machine. (Apparently, before my time they had a complicated machine with real soda syrups like Coke and 7-Up.) I don't know how much it gets used. Perhaps I'll give it a shot, if I can locate the instructions.

Important info from SodaClub:

QUOTE
Carbonation

* With Sodastream, you control the carbonation…from lightly fizzy to super carbonated. If your drink doesn’t taste fizzy enough, or you’re finding it goes flat quickly, try using cold water from the refrigerator. Also, you should make sure that you are carbonating properly. Your initial presses on the carbonating button will make a hissing sound. You’ll need to press all the way down, in firm, short bursts until you hear a loud buzzing sound. If you don’t hear the very loud buzzing sound, your drink is not yet carbonated!

* Average carbonation is three loud buzzes, but you can add more or less, depending on your preference. Fruit flavors typically taste best with 2-3 buzzes; but Cola and Root Beer taste best with 4-5 buzzes. Again, remember that the initial hissing sound is not the sound of carbonation. To get the fizz you must hear the buzz!

I thought the hissing was doing the job, and the buzzing was a warning sound that I was breaking the machine.
