we'll have about 10 days in Andalucia next month, staying at a friends' place in a fishing village near Malaga. I've read the related threads (Granada, Simon's adventure on Costa del Sol, etc., Wilf's meals too in Pink Pig) as we'll be making plenty of trips - Granada, Seville, Cordoba, possibly Tangiers (although said friends called it a shithole), possibly Murcia for wine - any thoughts, tips, other suggestions and updates would be much appreciated

I'm in Seville right now with the fam. Sometimes you get the bill for things and the number is so low you just kind of laugh. Even for things like good quality iberico, and shellfish. Had some wonderful gambas Rojas last night.

Off for our one restaurant meal at Abastos later today for lunch.

Abastos (at least Abastos 2.0) is a resto in Santiago de Compostela.

Abastos is a generic word in Spanish (and Galician). Look it up.

Abastos 2.0 is indeed located right in the heart of the Santiago market.

How did you like Abantal ?

Chambo im aware of all those things. Hence the auto correct. I'm traveling mit kinder so need to curve everything especially service at places that may or may not know how to deal with a three year old - even one who happily orders off the menu. I'll report more once back in the states but I enjoyed it very much. And the value for money relative to nyc is just shocking. Less than 200 euros for three with starters that were shellfish.

I also realize i have tradevo's seafood focused sibling on my list for later this week.

Orik are you headed down here or Santiago?

Also both of you need to curve what i say given how hard it is for me to get great fin and shell fish in NYC.

But you know that.

What does "curve what I say" mean?

"From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily lives."  © hollywood 2016.

As in grade on a curve. Dudes who live in Paris and Tokyo just get way better things than me on a regular basis.

Dudes in New York seem to do pretty well.

Orik are you headed down here or Santiago?

Had a brief stopover in Sevilla. Serviceable coffee at Torch Coffee Roasters (of course everywhere else is Delta or worse), nice craft beer at Maquila, jolly good time at La Azotea (gran poder location) - excellent jamón from Extremadura, scrambled eggs with ortiguillas, good seafood including some local (Cadiz) specialties like cuttlefish sperm (and when I say good I mean it won't be a top contender in Madrid but still very good), very nice btg list (about 20 Sherries for starters) mostly 2-4 euros per pour, and the glasses magically turn from copitas to full pours if you make nice with the wine guy. Very hard to spend more than 60 pp (and we tried our best).
