I've a friend gadding about DC who asked for rec.s

The list I found, from 2006 and posted elsewhere, included:

Best:
Citronelle
Il Laboratorio at Galileo if it's open (but not Galileo itself)

Next:
CityZen -- Eric Ziebold ; $45 for three courses at the bar a bargain
Komi -- Johnny Monis; Greek influenced; tasting menu $64

Also:
Corduroy
Notti Bianchi
Restaurant Eve (Old Town Alexandria) -- F+W Best New Chef Cathal Armstrong's Irish-influenced
Maestro (Tyson's Corner) -- The third in DC's trio of best restaurants.

Anything new and not to be missed?
i find it wildly amusing because i'm mildly drunk. -helena

Elissa, Here is a fairly recent thread that might be helpful to you --> DC Restaurants

Central and Cafe Atlantico were definitely merit worthy.

It is no secret about my love for Komi. It also just was upgraded to four stars.

This no longer exists. (Neither of them.)

Planning couple of days on Thanksgiving: hotel prices seem to be very attractive.

Would love to get recommendations for some high-endish beer places, like Brasserie Beck perhaps?

Non-food plane: on our must see list - Georgia O'Keeffe, Lino Tagliapietra... what else not to be missed among current exhibitions?

Beck is really the only beer-focused place in DC with good food. Another option might be Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown if you're in that neck of the woods.

If you will be here on Thanksgiving itself, check out the T-Day feast at Corduroy.

Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping track of current exhibitions.

There's an Avedon exhibit at the Corcoran, and the National Museum of American History reopens on the 22nd.

I'm not sure if it's high-endish, but there is a substantial Belgian beer list (plus good mussels) at Granville Moore's. My husband and I have also had good bison steak/cheesesteaks there. PDF menu links here:
http://www.granvillemoores.com/Beer.html

The renovation of the building was done to make it look trendy-distressed, but I find it just looks distressed unsure.gif. It's not very near a metro stop, though. It's an okay (20 minute or so) walk in daylight from Union Station, but you'll want a cab at night if you don't have a car. There is some kind of bus to and from that area from Union Station, but I don't know the details.

If you'll have a car, there is also Rustico in Alexandria, Virginia. http://www.rusticorestaurant.com/

(And I love Corduroy. Definitely try to go there for dinner if you're in DC for Thanksgiving.)

Working a trade show at the Convention Center beg of Apr.
Staying in vicinity (Mariott or Embassy Suites i think).

Will have a car but prefer to dine in walking distance - what are my options please?

I had a really fabulous teasting meal at Proof during my December visit. Great wine list. Sorry I don't know the neighborhood well enough to know where the convention center is in relation to the restaurant, but believe they are in the same vicinity?
