Who cares about Escoffier? Taavo Somer endorses them. Who would dare disagree?

And after all, many Roberta's customers keep rats as pets, and carry them around on their shoulders.

They are actually doing a totally kitschy Mel Brooks theme dinner - Grilled Rats, Beans, Raspberry Jam, and Roman Red.

Yes, Escoffier liked to boast of rats in the dining room.

Oh get off it. You know that with today's minimum wage laws you need a team of rats to make those fancy wine reductionist sauces to impress the critics.

Some pictures of the dinner below. Dessert I have to say it was memorable, it was similar to some to stuff from Blanca.

Can't The Bronx get trendy soon? Please.

I'm amazed that the Bronx hasn't happened yet.

Give it time. *wink*

That NY Times article is not particularly optimistic.

They don't say it, but I think the hidden subtext is, "Where does Lex live now?"

Was The Times particularly optimistic before Williamsburg or Bushwick rebounded?

Having said that: the article does offer some compelling structural reasons why the Bronx is NOT like Brooklyn, despite certain superficial points in its favor (like transit).

Bushwick has rebounded? There's a whole thread on the neighborhood which says the rebound is more superficial than substantial yet the Times makes it sound like the West Village in the 1950s.

Bushwick has rebounded to become a dormitory suburb for young people who work, but can't afford to live, elsewhere.

I think that's about it.

right...it gets written about a lot cause so many entry level people in media and publishing can only afford to live there (short of doing the classic 3 to a 1 bedroom in Murray Hill or Yorktown)

You forgot the thriving rat population.
