Today was, without a doubt, one of the nicest days of the summer. Brilliant blue sky, sunny, warm with a great breeze, and dry. Took a picnic lunch to Riverside Park and later a long walk along the river.

I fell asleep in Tompkins Square Park, but I blame Theater for the New City which was staging its summer street production just across the way.

Who the hell plans a "back to school" party at the local park in August? It's over 100 out there...

I'm done with summer. It's been so fucking hot here this summer, I don't think I'll ever cool down. We've had 3 days of rain since I returned from Alaska and on average it's been well over 90 degrees. This is Vancouver. I live here because we're not supposed to get weather like this. I can handle a week...maybe 2 of this kind of heat and humidity but this has been going on way too long. I'm so done. It's supposed to cool off tomorrow...to 80...and then rain on Thursday. If it does rain, I may be found running through the streets naked.

Any measurable increase in trailer parks?

Interesting you should post that, as it was just announced on WQXR that Staten Island and Brooklyn are under a tornado warning.

I'm waiting to see what happens when the stainless-steel-skinned Frank Gehry building gets hit by lightning. Could be any minute now.

Is everyone ok? That was utterly surreal....

It is indeed. (link to Surrealism thread)

Only one person got killed, apparently, but there is very serious damage, and major disruption.

Major Disruption always preferable to Colonel Catastrophe.
