Things are really popping at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The magnolias were at their peak this weekend as were the daffodils. The early blooming cherry trees are just beginning to come into their own.

It snowed this morning 
In Vancouver...Our normal temps for this time of year should be in the 60's....instead we had fucking snow.

Every inch of Texas is in a drought - all the way up to Exceptional.
And the drought has caused wildfires all over the state - one this week just about 5 miles or so from the middle of Austin.

And the drought has caused wildfires all over the state - one this week just about 5 miles or so from the middle of Austin.
NPR noted recently that parts of West Texas haven't had measurable rain in six months. Even for a perpetually low rainfall area, that's exceptional.

It totally sucks, no? I'm heading up to Westchester in a couple of hours for a family celebration and was going to go two blocks away for a manicure but the hell with it. Not in this rain. They're getting me with naked nails.
This morning when I went to the pool, and going to the pool involves being outside for less than a minute, it was raining sideways. My hoodie got drenched.

Distinctly humid this evening after the rain cleared up. I think we're nearly there. I can hear bachata in the streets. A week or too more and it will be uncomfortably hot.
Why live your life when you could curate it?

The tree pollen has arrived. I awoke this morning with eyes swollen to slits and the color of Natalie Portman's at the end of Black Swan.

somehow we seem not to have had a real spring in Austin - one where the daytime high slowly rose through the 70s and the 80s - we've been in the upper 80s and lower 90s for weeks/months now, and today is predicted to hit 98 or 99

I've been trying to get by without it because, despite what the ads say about Allegra, it's not non-drowse-inducing & I'm tired of feeling drugged all the time. It hasn't been easy these last few days.It's been a terrible last few days. I'll be taking Allegra daily until June or we go more than 2 days without rain, whichever comes first.
The tree pollen has arrived. I awoke this morning with eyes swollen to slits and the color of Natalie Portman's at the end of Black Swan.
Meanwhile the combination of rains & heat has caused our local tulips to bloom & lose their petals within the space of 24 hours. We scarcely got more from the magnolia trees, which all seem to have lost their flowers yesterday.
Small complaints next to tornadoes, floods & fires. My cousins live relatively close to the twister that hit St. Louis near Lambert Airport last Friday, but far enough away; the wife's parents were at the airport meeting a flight & missed it by 20 minutes.
Almost feels like Spring is already gone right now. Maybe it'll do a reprise next week.

Not Apocalypse yet. A line of torrential rains just tore through Jersey, probably hitting Manhattan now. Brighter skies beyond it, though I think we're supposed to be in for a lot of rain & flash floods out here today.Anyone looked northwest the last couple of minutes? It's the apocalypse.
