if the ncaa is going to be consistent in investigating infractions every major college football program will go down. florida, for example, will have to explain how it allowed the son of god to have access to the locker room and to training areas.

oh please. that's just sour grapes. There are infractions and then there are Infractions. Guys selling memorabilia = infraction. Tress covering it up after the whistle is blown =Infraction.

terrelle pryor seems to have driven more expensive cars in three years at ohio state than bush ever received from boosters while he was at usc (and yes, i know there was far more to the bush scandal). and we had not heard anything about any of that until this tattoo parlour stuff suddenly exploded. when someone looks closely things suddenly become visible. are you confident that there aren't similar things happening across the board?

i'm not arguing against usc's sanctions--they deserved it and have to pay. i just wish i could believe that the other major factory programs in major conferences are so much cleaner and not just so much luckier.

why not create a pay scale for "college athletes" during their college career and treat the NCAA as a farm league for pro football or basketball? So, 25% of the first three years pay for each pro athlete goes to his or her school

Or, let the major league teams "underwrite" college sports programs and get some draft credits for investing their properties. If somebody's dad wants to shop the boy around to schools, why shouldn't he, although perhaps some waiting period should be imposed on a transfer.

The simple answer is because the NCAA folks who decide the stipends athletes get are a bunch of (predominately) rich, white, old men who have no clue what the life of a college athlete is really like. There is some push to make some changes. But, it will not be anything near what is equitable. And, they are n no rus to make those changes .
