was really excited for this place.. This place claims to be Las Vegas's oldest steakhouse.. This place claimed to offer old school service, an old school vibe, and old school food.. Instead it offered just a tired and worn out experience.. I am the first person to pay respects to the past.. I have the utmost respect for restaurants that survive for so long and find great comfort in them.. However, this place, should have been put down long ago.. There is really nothing nice I can say about this place..
The decor is tired looking.. The tables wobbled, the room was heavy with age.. It felt like being in your recently deceased neighbors living room.. And I mean literally, as i was recently in my deceased neighbors living room...
The staff is all dressed up in tuxedos.. Like the kind from a bad prom... They are incredibly untrained and forceful.. We were a table of 6 in a pretty much empty restaurant..
The steaks came out before the salads were off the table.. The waiters would come by and clear people's plates while other people were eating.. I hate that.. I freaking hate that.. I would expect that at a Denny's but, at a place opened for 50 years? Don't clear a plate from someone until the whole table is finished with the course... They literally had to push everyone's salad plates into the middle of the table? So strange.. Also, they should have been aware enough, as we were one of the only tables, to see that we needed more time and to hold the kitchen off from firing the steaks... Not to mention, i did tell the guy we were in no rush.. That means, DO NOT RUSH US..
We started with the shrimp cocktail, and oyster rockafeller.. I knew this was not going to go well.. The shrimp tasted metallic, the oyster rock were a fairly average version...
We then moved on to Cesar Salad made table side... We were ordering all the classics we thought.. Things that they must have been doing for years.. This was strange too.. And fortunately, or unfortunately, we had no time to eat it as our steaks were shoved in front of us...
I would be shocked to learn that these steaks were anything better than what you find at a low end supermarket.. I would be surprised to learn if they were dry aged or anything other than generic meat..
The sides we ordered were actually horrid.. A Bernaise was essentially mayo, the asparagus that was covered in hollandaise seemed to be this sad grey sauce from a packet or mix, and the french fries which they said were had cut, were perhaps cut with someone's hand prior to being frozen and shipped to Las Vegas.. This was the first time I had a baked potato in a restaurant that was not prepared well.. how is that possible?
We ordered a creme brulee for dessert.. when i went to crack the top, i stuff my fork on the top to break through... the crust was not hard but, gelatinous.. my fork got stuck in the crust and when i pulled the fork away, the entire mushy top came off with it.. it gave way to a foul smelling pudding... we had the waiter take it away, he seemed use to doing so...
So to sum it up, the tables wobbly, the staff was untrained and incompetent, and the food was of poor quality and tasted terrible.. Besides that, it was a home run...

I am always amazed that they have been able to keep the charade up that they are the best example of an old style LV steakhouse. I will give them the 'old' part. But, that's it. If you want a true oldstyle LV steakhouse, I'd suggest going to The Steakhouse at Circus Circus. It is the ONLY reason to set foot in that dump (unless you have a fetish for circus performers). Be sure and have some of the Atomc Horseradish. The other option is Michael's. It's pricey. But, you will at least get a look at opulent, old Las Vegas. It used to be in the Barbary Coast (which is now Bill's). They moved to Southpoint and recreated it down to the last note. Stick to the basics and have a tableside flaming dessert and you'll be fine.
