I've been to Bristol since the trip described there, but not for several years, so I am not a good source of recommendations. Although the Elizabethan pubs are doubtless still prospering.
Why live your life when you could curate it?

The Mayflower for Chinese. Don't let the underpass under "the roundabout" put you off.
Old India in the beautiful old Corn Exchange.
And there's always the ever reliable Harvey Nicks: Lunch 2 courses 15 pounds, 3 courses 18.
