a long time ago, chambolle, you probably failed a number of literature classes (or more likely, your instructors, wishing not to suffer your presence again, gave you barely-passing grades). your instructors in those classes (these were the people near the front of the classrooms with the long-suffering look on their faces, which deepened on the rare occasions you raised your hand in anything other than response to some base physical stimulus) tried to impress upon you (they failed, alas) the importance of reading in context. had you (miraculously) imbibed even some small portion of this you might have realized while reading the other thread, from which (for some reason i would rather not understand) you abstracted into this one my comment about apple, their computers, and their other devices, that i was responding in the context of a specific discussion; and that in this discussion computers were implicitly being defined by the people i was responding to as desktop or laptop computers (which, by the way, is how the world at large understands the term "computer"). it is for this reason that i reminded people that (this subset of) computers are now a relatively small part of the apple story vis a vis iphones, ipods and ipads, and that therefore the contemporary mythos of apple and steve jobs cannot be understood merely by debating the merits of the gui of apple's desktops and laptops vis a vis windows machines.
but again, this is a more generous reading than is necessary. you probably did think that desktop and laptop macs contribute 80% of apple's revenue, and are now back-pedaling frantically. go with your (lesser) god, chambolle. i must now get into my subaru forester computer and go to work.
